Woodlands Church praises MH1 Web Design

February 4th, 2010 admin Posted in MH1 News No Comments »

We are very proud to receive the following kind words from Pastor Frankie Mazzapica at Spirit Filled Celebration Church in The Woodlands. Thank you Pastor Frankie!

——————————————————————–

“I am the Sr. Pastor of Spirit Filled Celebration Church in The Woodlands, Tx.  We have worked with several web design/hosting companies over the last several years.  In the past, we have been very frustrated with not only the quality of the product produced for us, but also by the customer service as well.

Working with Mike and his team at MH1 we have had an incredible experience!  MH1 worked at a high level of excellence to produce a site that far exceeded our original expectations.  Anytime I ever need to talk with Mike or a member of his staff, I am able to contact them with no delay.  MH1 is easily reached over the phone and they reply to my emails with incredible speed.  We have been so impressed with MH1, we have volunteered to put a link to their website on our site.  I give MH1 my highest recommendation.”

Facebook and Twitter Lead the Pack as Social Media Usage Skyrockets

January 23rd, 2010 admin Posted in Business Blogs, MH1 News, Social Media No Comments »

by Brenna Ehrlich on www.mashable.com

Despite Facebook privacy changes and serious cases of Twitter Fail Whale, social media use has increased astronomically since this time last year: During December 2009, global users spent an average of five hours on social networking sites, up from three hours in December 2008. That’s an 82% increase.

Nielsen just released a report on its blog detailing increased social media use, and the results are impressive, while not exactly shocking. Some highlights:

- Social networking sites are the most popular online destinations globally (based on the amount of time people spent there in December), with games and instant messaging coming in second and third, respectively. (Side note: As gaming becomes more popular on sites like Facebook, it will be interesting to see how this affects time spent.)

- In December, Facebook was the most popular social networking site globally, with 67% of social media fans logging in. In addition, time spent on Facebook has been on the rise; globally, people spend close to six hours per month on the network.

- In the U.S., people continue to spend more time on social networks, but year-over-year growth for Facebook and Twitter individually outpaced overall growth for the category at large.

- Twitter was the fastest-growing social networking site in December 2009, during which it had 18.1 million unique visitors. That’s up from 2.7 million unique visitors in December 2008. Still, month-over-month, unique visitors decreased 5%, lending credence to the notion that the microblogging site’s popularity may be flatlining.

Here are some charts from Nielsen showing social media’s ascent:

So what does all this mean? Basically what we and a bevy of social media experts have been saying for months now: Social networking is a force to reckoned with.

Sites like Facebook and Twitter are getting the most eyeballs, which means we have to figure out how to use them to their maximum potential — whether it be by optimizing ROI or attempting to mine them for journalistic purposes.

Texas Trikes launches new website, finds early success

September 16th, 2009 admin Posted in MH1 News, Search Engine Marketing, Web Design, marketing No Comments »

When the housing market tanked late last year with the contraction of US credit markets, custom home builder Philip Ware (www.philiplanehomes.com) quickly found himself in a quandry. Still involved in day-to-day operations of his highend custom home building business just north of Houston, the slow market pushed him into another, unexpected direction.

Ware started another company based on one of his passions, devoting time, sweat and some personal savings. Texas Trikes (www.texastrikes.net) is a niche motorcyle company that converts Harley-Davidsons, Hondas, and other big bikes into shiny, powerful three-wheelers called “Trikes” in the motocycling community. From experience, Ware knew an effective business website that could be found in Google and other search engines would be an integral part of his marketing effort.

“Good business websites have helped us build clientele and attract new customers in the past and the relative cost to print advertising and other media makes it a no-brainer,” explained Ware. “People expect you to have a website today. It’s a fact of doing business. Customers are looking for my trike conversion kits and services online and I need a nice, well-thought out, informative website to bring in these prospects.”

Ware had worked with MH1 Web Design of The Woodlands, Texas on previous home building websites and marketing over the years. So, with a relatively small budget and simple plan in mind, Ware contacted MH1 owner Mike Hallaron to develop a simple, clean brochure-style website. Advanced features were not necessary and could be added down the road.

“Working with MH1 is easy because we work one-on-one and the customer service is very personal and responsive. They quickly took my concept and some initial graphics and developed a simple brochure-style website.” MH1 owner Mike Hallaron helped Ware refine keywords and create effective meta tags and text that would serve the balance between human visitors reading the site and search engine crawlers scouring the Texas Trikes content for ranking purposes. It took some hard work and late hours but the resulting site is simple to navigate, easy to read, and filled with photos of real trike samples.

“Our goal was to produce a website that ranks highly in the search engines under our desired keywords and urged visitors to call or email to learn more. If we can help generate interested leads for our web design customers than we have done our job,” said Hallaron.

The outlook for Texas Trikes is already very bright even though Ware’s hobby-turned business is only a few months old. As far as his new website goes, the proof is in the pudding.

Ware claims, “If you search for “trike conversion dealer” on Google, Yahoo, Ask, or Bing, we are the first listing to come up!  I am getting sales leads from Minnesota, Massachusetts, California, Canada, Ireland, and beyond.  Now I have to turn these pricing requests into sales!”

 That’s what he calls results.

Some MH1 Hosting customers experience temporary service interruptions

August 20th, 2009 admin Posted in Email, Hosting, MH1 News No Comments »

by Mike Hallaron, owner, MH1 Web Design

Just a quick update on the recent service interruptions some of our hosting customers have experienced lately. My hosting technology team is working on a solution to prevent this problem from reoccurring. I apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your steadfast patience.

While the issue is not directly related to your email accounts, it certainly affects your email service. Most of you with this problem are not able to login to the MH1 mail server and receive incoming mail. This is evident in your email program requesting your “network password.”

In the meantime, as we continue to work with our hosting technology provider to solve this persisting problem, please ask everyone on your team using a POP3 mail account and 2003/2007Microsoft Outlook to recheck their personal account settings, as follows:

For Outlook 2003/2007

1. Click Tools then E-mail Accounts…
2. Select “View or change existing e-mail accounts” and click Next
3. Select your MH1 email account and click Change
4. Click on “More settings”
5. Select “Outgoing Server” tab
6. Tick “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication”
7. Select “Use same settings as my incoming email server”
8. Click Ok
9. Press Next
10. Lastly, press Finish

Once these steps are done, try to send/receive again. Please contact us if you experience other problems. 1-877-354-5898 or (281) 362-2884.

Thanks again for your patience.
