Why Should Your Business Blog?

by Mike Hallaron

Your company could benefit from a business blog. Daily output of internal company news and other boring minutiae is not necessary. As few as 3-4 regular monthly articles or “posts” could kickstart your sluggish marketing effort. Your content should be useful and relevant to your business to see positive results.

Why a Business Blog?

The blog helps build brand awareness across the Web as posts are recopied and linked to by other bloggers and news services. All of these create backlinks to your brand and website building the company’s reputation and rankings among the search engines. Google, Yahoo, and other search engines will index or “crawl” your blog and note new posts and your keyword-rich content. As your human visitors and prospects grow, so will your search engine ranking.

The blog will position you as an expert in your field. Others will read your posts and even subscribe to your blog content. Some will comment on specific articles and real business relationshsips can develop through your blog.

What about sales?

As your Web reach grows, more potential customers discover the brand and can actually boost your sales effort. A business blog is an excellent tool for spreading your company’s message and introducing new prospects to your products and services.

Getting Started with Your Business Blog:

We install the Word Press blog software on your host server, then find a suitable, professional template that compliments your logo and company colors and style. Hint: Do not try to duplicate the exact same look as your website. Visitors should be clear that they are visiting your blog which is separate.
Once it is set up, we often direct headlines from your blog to a news section on your business website. We can either tutor you or a staff member on how to post on the blog, or we can interface with your company and generate interviews and regular news topics for short and long blog posts.

How Much Does It Cost?
Most of MH1’s blog projects cost $1,200-$1,500 and if we handle the ongoing content management, that is billed mothly at only $45/hour.
A business blog is an effective way to enhance your marketing strategy at a fairly minimal costs even for the most modest small business.
